Brilliant Backstraps

I don't have the right gun, so I have not tried this product but I love this lady and I beleive in her and she believes in her product so much that she's offering one free to one of you.

This lady is my good friend Tracy Hughes and her new company is Brilliant Backstraps. Brilliant Backstraps creates custom glittered backstraps for the Smith & Wesson M&P line with removable backstraps. They also make custom backstraps for other firearms with removable backstraps as well as jeweled slide endcaps that match the backstrap. Those aren't on the website yet. In fact, the website is a little behind because the Facebook page has been so successful. There are plans for expansion into a men's line that doesn't include glitter as well as other accessories for women.

The biggest questions is the texture. The backstrap is a little rough at first and they will shed a small amount of glitter in the beginning, but they smooth out very quickly and stop shedding within the first couple of uses.

My dear friend Athena at GunGoddess.com even believes in them so much that she carries them as well as the gold and silver zebra pattern exclusive to her site.

If you have an M&P or know someone who does and would like one of these brilliant backstraps, visit her website or Facebook page and leave a comment on this post telling me which one is your favorite. I will allow posts for one week and then draw for one free American Flag backstrap that will be shipped directly to you!

Everybody Likes New Clothes

Everybody likes new clothes. I got some today, yay!! I want to share!!!

The great ladies at iCarry2 make clothing for women shooters who aren't all a size 2. You will look great in their stuff if you ARE a size 2, but you will also look great if you are a size 12!

If you read my facebook page you know that I am getting ready for a "What Not to Wear" type post. It will include what to wear to the range, including tops, pants/shorts, shoes, headwear and even hair styles. I am very excited to be working on this for you!!

In preparation for this, iCarry2 sent us some tees! I got this one for me to wear, review and use in the upcoming feature

Their shirts have a high neckline to protect brass from flying into your shirt while they aren't cut to only flatter the thinnest bodies. They are so comfy and lightweight and I think you will love them. Today we will be giving away this 2nd Amendment Rifle Tee in size XL. This shirt fits a 12-14 shirt size lady pretty well.

This picture is the Pink Camo Kershaw Scallion Knife also available at iCarry2. I didn't get one and I'm not giving one away but I will be talking about it in the feature. I have carried a Kershaw Scallion knife in stainless for about 4 years now and I love it. I can field strip my LCP, cut a loose thread, open boxes, and so much more with it. It's lightweight, has a belt or pocket clip and is sturdy and strong.

Any of the pictures in this post are clickable. You can click them to go straight to their page at iCarry2. Be sure to check these girls out and buy some of their great gear. They support some super great causes and have made some really great products for us ladies!

All you have to do to enter to win the 2A Rifle Tee in XL is go visit iCarry2 and leave a comment on this post letting me know what your favorite iCarry2 product is. Entries will be accepted until noon this Friday, July 22 and then a winner will be drawn.

Before I go, please, please remember to donate to the Babes with Bullets Camp by clicking the Donate button below. All donors will have their name entered into a drawing for a free crossbreed holster.

Thanks so much and have a great week!!

Crossbreed MicroClip Review and Giveaway

Have I told you how much I love the great guys at Crossbreed? They are great supporters of That Texas Lady and A Girl and A Gun Women's Shooting League. Today I will be reviewing the Crossbreed MicroClip for the Ruger LCP without the Crimson Trace LG-431.

Construction: We received the MicroClip in Natural Horsehide, right handed, and the construction is awesome. The super staff at Crossbreed suggested the Horsehide due to the heat here in Texas and I am glad they did. With record setting temps, it's hot enough as it is. As with any leather product, it was stiff and rigid at first, but after a day or two, broke in quite nicely. The kydex is formed to the LCP and fits snugly without making it difficult to draw. The difference between the MiniTuck that I reviewed the other day and the MicroClip is the clips. The MiniTuck has two clips, while the MicroClip has one.

Comfort: I am in love with the MiniTuck, so I had trouble being objective with it's smaller counterpart with one clip. It is just as comfortable actually. I was just a little less comfortable personally because of the single clip. I wanted to reassurance that it was not going to move and change visibility.

Gun Ride: Like I said I was a little unsure of the way it would ride due to only having one clip, but I was able to wear it at about 4:30-ish in small shorts, a tank top, and a light print coverup with no visibility. It didn't move at all, so my fears were quelled. (I hope to have pictures soon, still having camera problems).

Concealability: The LCP is a small gun anyway so not much to conceal, but with the MicroClip, it pretty much disappears. The clip is attached so that you can tuck your shirt in around it, making it difficult to notice that way. If you wear any kind of cover garment at all, it completely disappears.

Price: At $69 for the horsehide model and $59 for cowhide, this holster is very well priced. The durability makes it well worth the price tag, giving you years of wear out of your money.

Ordering/Customer Service: Ordering is so easy, you can call Crossbreed at 888-732-5011 or order online. The staff are amazing! This is a family company and they hand make each and every holster, giving it a personal touch and making sure they turn out a quality product. Because they hand make each holster, be sure to allow 4-6 weeks for delivery when you order. Waiting is hard, especially for me, but they will get it to you, I promise!

In summary, I really enjoy the Crossbreed MicroClip! The agreement between Crossbreed and I was that the merchandise they sent to me would be for review and given away, so unfortunately I have to part with this great holster...but the great part is that I get to give it to one of you!!!! I now have an LG-431 on my Ruger anyway so it won't fit.

So here's what we will do. In order to win the Crossbreed MicroClip for the Ruger LCP, you will need to leave a comment on this post and answer a question. This morning I saw a gun that was originally black painted to be grey, another digital camo, and yet another a gorgeous hot pink. If I could afford to have my LCP painted, I would have it done in hot pink...I love hot pink. So to enter the contest for the MicroClip, answer the question, "If you could paint your gun any color, what would it be? Or would you leave it alone?" I know this is quite a girly question to ask, but now there are guns of all colors (Cowboy has one that is army man green) so inquiring minds want to know...

Entries will be accepted all weekend with the winner to be drawn on Monday.

Have a great day and happy commenting,

How About A Give Away???

Since it is Wednesday and my CHL requirements are gathered and mailed and since my gun is at Ruger and I have nothing better to do. I thought, "Hey Lady, how about we give something away today?" And I agreed. (Not really, I don't talk to myself, well sometimes, but it sounded like a great way to start this post.) So, here we go.

Our new friends at SmartCarry® have offered a SmartCarry® for us to review, which we will be doing as soon as it comes in. They have also offered a Gift Certificate for one lucky reader to win a free SmartCarry® of their own.

So here's how you enter to win. You can have as many as FOUR chances:
1.) Leave a comment on this post, telling us why you decided to become licensed to carry.
2.) "Like" That Texas Lady on Facebook and Leave a comment letting us know you did
3.) Become a follower of this blog and leave a comment letting us know you did
4.) Link to this site on your personal blog and leave a comment with a link to the page we are listed on

Each comment will be a chance to win. Multiple comments of the same thing do not count (for example, you can't post 12 times that you "liked" us on Facebook for 12 chances, but you do have the chance to post four comments, one for each qualifier...email me if you have any questions). Entries will be accepted until 8:00 a.m. CST on Monday, June 13th and then a winner will be drawn randomly. You do not have to be a Texan to win, and you do not have to be female, but come on guys, you have more options than we do, let the girls win???

Also, if you would like to remain anonymous, You can do that too. I know that some of you, like me, don't want the whole world to know that you carry (concealed is concealed, right). So just make up a name, leave it in your comment (example: Hi, this is Mary Brown and I carry because I refuse to be a victim.)and then email me at thatTexasLady@gmail.com and let me know who Mary Brown really is and what your email address is, in case you win. If you already "like" us on Facebook, you may go ahead and leave a comment to that fact as well. Also, if your comment doesn't show up right away, don't worry. They are on moderation and I am not in front of the computer 24/7.

The lucky winner will be announced here on Monday AND notified by email.

Good luck!!
