SmartCarry® Review

Today I am reviewing the SmartCarry®. I already gave one of these away. Our lucky winner was Misty. Misty, feel free to chime in on our comments and let us know what you think about the SmartCarry®. I received one of these great holsters from The SmartCarry® Company, in order to give women another option for concealed carry with different clothing options. I have worn the SmartCarry® with yoga pants, pajamas, a broomstick skirt, and slacks. The pictures here are with my nice new slacks. I have a couple of different jobs that I do and one of them requires business dress. The only belt I have is the one I wear with my boots and jeans and it doesn't really go with slacks, so an IWB holster just wouldn't work as well. Here are the pictures before I get on with the review:

Just so you know, I love how this outfit slims me!! :)

Construction: The construction of this holster is great! They are made of great heavy blue denim or white duck cloth and have a layer of Cushmax® on the back to wick sweat away from your skin. The velcro closure is tough and doesn't seem to have the chance to come undone, and I love the extra wide elastic, allowing a snug fit.

Comfort: The comfort is great as long as you have some kind of undershirt between the velcro and your skin in the back. This outfit did not allow for an undershirt, so it rubbed a little. As you can see, I am kind of a bigger girl, and didn't have any problem with the grip pressing into my stomach. I hardly noticed it was there at all. I did have to adjust a little bit when getting in the truck, but nothing too major.

Gun Ride: The ride is great. You might want to fold your hands in your lap if you are seated without a table, set your purse or a book in your lap or something. Someone might wonder what the bulge is where a lady shouldn't have one, hehe.

Concealability: As you can see in the pictures, my LCP just plain disappeared.

Price: The standard model, priced at $50.95 is a great deal and well worth it!

Ordering/Customer Service: Charlie may not be a Texan but enjoys to visit like the rest of us. He has the nicest demeanor and will make sure you get the right SmartCarry® for you!

I truly enjoy having the SmartCarry® as an option for me and I think you will too.

  1. First of all, I agree, you look gooood:) Second, I am wonder how a bigger gun would do in this kind of holster. It looks like a neat option for outfits that would not accommodate a belt, but I wonder how it would work with a gun bigger than the LCP.

  2. Thanks!! I don't know, I think it would depend on the top probably. If the top was long and not tight it would probably work great with any gun. With the bigger guns, though, like in faliaphotography's video, with a tank and shorts like you wear, it may not work so great.

  3. My husband uses something similar with his glock 23c, which I believe is a "compact" gun, but it's pretty heavy with two extended mags and the one in the weapon too. He says it hangs just fine and the only time he has an issue is when he wants to stand in the men's room.

  4. I am definitely looking at this one, too. I don't think I could do the Flash Bang one. The Crossbreed is #1 on my list though :) I think I saw one with the LCR, and it worked well. Thanks for the great review!

  5. I was thinking it would work great as your BUG (back up gun) carrier. I normally have both my pistols with me - the Springfield XD9 is the primary and the KelTec PF9 is my BUG. The BUG is normally carried in a secondary position - so if my primary was on my waist at say the
4:00 position (normal position for me) I would then carry the BUG in a ankle holster or thigh holster (just fir the record I haven't actually carried on the thigh yet - this requires adding more skirts to my wardrobe) or something like that. This being TX I find ankle bolsters difficult - I wear capri pants a lot and boots and jeans quite a bit. Neither of these support a ankle holster carry position well.
I think the smartcarry would be great fir carrying your smaller BUG since you could still wear a belt and carry your primary at the same time.

  6. Enjay, neat link thanks.

Yeah, ponniegirl004, it would be good for a backup. I haven't done much of that, but I probably should.

Andrea, I so want that flash bang one, but I can not imagine it being comfortable, plus I am a little more endowed than the girl on the video, so I doubt it will work for me and it would for sure have to be a small bug gun/backup thing and not my Glock...lol

  7. Hi

I've been trying out the SmartCarry I won ever since I got it [ shipped very fast also ]. I haven't worn it on the "street" yet as I'm still perfecting my draw with it. Mostly my thoughts mirror Texas Lady's. It is put together very well and is most comfortable. With the velcro straps it doesn't come loose even during my version of those zumba exercises. The only outfit it doesn't do well for me is with sweatpants or at least the size of the I wear , which is [top secret]. It prints a bit at the top with those on me. I use a Glock 23 and it conceals just fine but then again I'm not small as Texas looks. I do so far have a little trouble getting my extra mag out in a hurry but I imagine that will speed up over time. Nice slacks by the way.
