Crossbreed MicroClip Review and Giveaway

Have I told you how much I love the great guys at Crossbreed? They are great supporters of That Texas Lady and A Girl and A Gun Women's Shooting League. Today I will be reviewing the Crossbreed MicroClip for the Ruger LCP without the Crimson Trace LG-431.

Construction: We received the MicroClip in Natural Horsehide, right handed, and the construction is awesome. The super staff at Crossbreed suggested the Horsehide due to the heat here in Texas and I am glad they did. With record setting temps, it's hot enough as it is. As with any leather product, it was stiff and rigid at first, but after a day or two, broke in quite nicely. The kydex is formed to the LCP and fits snugly without making it difficult to draw. The difference between the MiniTuck that I reviewed the other day and the MicroClip is the clips. The MiniTuck has two clips, while the MicroClip has one.

Comfort: I am in love with the MiniTuck, so I had trouble being objective with it's smaller counterpart with one clip. It is just as comfortable actually. I was just a little less comfortable personally because of the single clip. I wanted to reassurance that it was not going to move and change visibility.

Gun Ride: Like I said I was a little unsure of the way it would ride due to only having one clip, but I was able to wear it at about 4:30-ish in small shorts, a tank top, and a light print coverup with no visibility. It didn't move at all, so my fears were quelled. (I hope to have pictures soon, still having camera problems).

Concealability: The LCP is a small gun anyway so not much to conceal, but with the MicroClip, it pretty much disappears. The clip is attached so that you can tuck your shirt in around it, making it difficult to notice that way. If you wear any kind of cover garment at all, it completely disappears.

Price: At $69 for the horsehide model and $59 for cowhide, this holster is very well priced. The durability makes it well worth the price tag, giving you years of wear out of your money.

Ordering/Customer Service: Ordering is so easy, you can call Crossbreed at 888-732-5011 or order online. The staff are amazing! This is a family company and they hand make each and every holster, giving it a personal touch and making sure they turn out a quality product. Because they hand make each holster, be sure to allow 4-6 weeks for delivery when you order. Waiting is hard, especially for me, but they will get it to you, I promise!

In summary, I really enjoy the Crossbreed MicroClip! The agreement between Crossbreed and I was that the merchandise they sent to me would be for review and given away, so unfortunately I have to part with this great holster...but the great part is that I get to give it to one of you!!!! I now have an LG-431 on my Ruger anyway so it won't fit.

So here's what we will do. In order to win the Crossbreed MicroClip for the Ruger LCP, you will need to leave a comment on this post and answer a question. This morning I saw a gun that was originally black painted to be grey, another digital camo, and yet another a gorgeous hot pink. If I could afford to have my LCP painted, I would have it done in hot pink...I love hot pink. So to enter the contest for the MicroClip, answer the question, "If you could paint your gun any color, what would it be? Or would you leave it alone?" I know this is quite a girly question to ask, but now there are guns of all colors (Cowboy has one that is army man green) so inquiring minds want to know...

Entries will be accepted all weekend with the winner to be drawn on Monday.

Have a great day and happy commenting,

  1. I too love pink, but I think a metallic blue would be pretty sweet, too.

  2. Mine slips all the time. I don't know if it is because I don't have hips or what. It is especially tricky when re-holstering. I adore Crossbreed and am happy with their products, customer service, etc, but for me, this is not a good holster. Glad to hear it worked for you!!

  3. Again, I have one, so don't enter me in the contest, but to answer your question, I would not paint my gun. I don't think there is anything wrong with pink guns and they surly are as deadly, but for me, to keep my mind set straight and focused, I want a gun that acts and looks like it means business...lol

  4. I really like the stainless steel barrels with the black butt. I personally think that is super sexy! LOL

  5. I would totally paint mine purple. It's my favorite color!

  6. I am with A Girl and Her Gun - I don't want it painted - but if it came with the stainless..... :-) I want my pistol to look like it means business not like it is a toy. With little kids in the house I think it is VERY important to differentiate toys and reality. But if other people want painted guns - that is fine with me!

  7. I love pink!!! I would have to say I would leave mine alone because I just got the RASPBERRY LCP and I love it!!! I also have a Taurus TCP in baby pink but I lie my raspberry LCP better!!! All my range equipment and other guns are pink a well...lol!! Can't go wrong!!

  9. Were I to paint a gun it probably would be a rifle stock rather than a handgun, and it would be in blue/green color shift pearl paint. You know, the kind that is blue from one angle, green from another? A pistol would get too much wear for a fancy job like that.
I do have to admit to a weakness for bi and tri colored pistols. My XD is black with a stainless slide, and I really want a 1911 with wood grips, black frame and stainless barrel and accents.
Please don't enter me in the contest, I don't have a weapon that will fit the holster :)

  10. If you don't have to be female to win, I'd definitely like the frame of mine Olive Drab. Maybe a shade or two lighter than an army man...

  12. Thanks for the review! :) So, would you say the MicroClip iis more (or just equally) concealable compared to the MiniClip? Just wondering if there are any pros of one over the other.
Regarding colors, I would choose a deep, metallic blue...pretty, but dark enough to keep the "serious" look. I do love the look of the shocking pink guns I have seen at the gun shows, but if it is to be my concealed carry weapon, I'd opt for a color that doesn't attract undue attention.

  13. Molly, I enjoy the MiniTuck more because the two clips make it more secure. They are equally concealable.

I like the pink for the same reason you stated. I wear pink quite a bit and a black gun is much more noticeable.

  14. Hi Lady - don't enter me in the drawing - neither of my pistols will fit in it.

  15. LOL, that makes sense. My whole wardrobe being rather neutral - lots of black, white, and tans - it never crossed my mind that I could blend a cool color like pink into it. (Hmmm...I'm seeing a plan here...Buy a cool pink gun. Buy wardrobe items to camouflage it better. A slight variation for the "I-had-to-buy-an-outfit-to-match-the-shoes-I-found!" :D)

Thanks for the helpful MicroClip/MiniTuck clarification. :)

  16. Exactly. While we're talking about new clothes...I'm gonna blog about this soon, but got my new shorts (cute, low-rise 7-pocket hikers) from Cabela's today and the LCP fits perfectly in the pocket!!
