Holster Review: Chick Holsters - Ankle

If you're like me, Sometimes you want to wear a pair of tighter jeans with a tank or tee and that really leaves no room for an IWB holster. I received my new holsters from Chick Holsters a couple of weeks ago and have truly enjoyed trying them out.

Construction: The Chick Holster is made of durable, breathable fabric...and breathable is important here in the Texas Panhandle where we're sneaking up on 50 days this summer over 100 degrees. The elastic is strong and soft, and doesn't dig into the skin. The straps can be cinched just tight enough and do not come loose during the day.

Comfort: The comfort of this holster is impeccable! Unless I accidentally try to sit in the floor the wrong way, I pretty much forget it's even there. You have to work a little in the beginning to find the adjustment for you. If you make the support strap short enough, it holds the holster up enough so that you don't have to tighten the ankle part to the point of cutting of circulation. If you find you're perfect adjustment, this amazing holster is super comfy with no flopping and no loss of circulation. I mean come on, in your cute pants and strappy sandals, you don't want purple toes, right?!

And since this holster was made for a woman, not a man, there's not a yard of extra velcro hanging out there to contend with. It can be comfortably tightened down to fit the smallest ankle.

Gun Ride: Gun ride is all up to you in this holster. You can ride it high on the ankle or sitting right down on the ankle bone. Since you adjust it to fit you, you create the ride you like best.

Concealability:
As you can tell in the pictures, in my bootcut jeans, the holster is completely concealed. Wearing it under a pair of fitted bootcut slacks one day, I had a guy ask me, "You don't have a gun right now, do you?" I laughed and did a supermodel turn and asked, "Do you see one?" I do wear mine without the flower, to remove that little bump, but to each her own...some may enjoy the cute little flower on their holster.

Price: At $39.95, the price for this little holster is excellent. They also offer a super warranty.

Ordering/Customer Service: Ordering is a cinch! You can order online with credit card and Garridan is quick to answer if you have any questions. If you read the testimonials, you will find many examples of the quality customer service that Camille's staff provides.

They have even provided some excellent customer service for one of our readers, a gift certificate for a free Chick Holster, including shipping! You can use it for the ankle holster or the thigh holster and order it custom to fit your firearm. All you have to do is leave a comment here, let us know what outfit would you look forward to having a chick holster for? Comments will be taken all weekend and the winner will be drawn from all the comments on Monday.

There is even a group of guys on the internet that rave on the Chick Holsters thigh holster to wear with their kilts!!! How's that for ingenuity??? Go Camille!! And thanks sister, for your support and encouragement for women's firearm education!

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this holster free from the manufacturer. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. 1. Great looking holster. Have you tried pulling from it?
I would be more interested in the thigh holster to wear when I have to "dress up". Love the look of the thigh holster, my problem with them has always been, how do you keep it up and the looks of this one it would be great!
Thanks for the reviews, they are very helpful!

  2. Yes, both the ankle and thigh holsters are easy to draw from with practice. It is best to practice as much as possible (with an empty firearm), especially if you're like me and use a variety of holsters.

  4. that looks cool, I tried a friends ankle holster on and you're right, I ended up with a yard of velcro and it was heavy!!!

  5. I love my thigh holster and would love to get my hands on an ankle holster. Chick holsters are great!

  6. The holster looks pretty sturdy! Most ankle holsters I've seen are just a band around your ankle. I can't help but wonder if you can wear it on your forearm under a long sleeve shirt? Sure would beat a shoulder holster and easy to get to!
The pocket guns are so small and light! I even saw a .380 by Diamondback Firearms that only weighs 8 oz!

  7. What size gun are you carrying in the holster? Will it fit an XDM 9mm?

  8. Rowbine: I beleive that it would fit, but I think it would impede the draw. A pant leg has a whole lot more give than a shirt sleeve. Also if you're wearing it on the upper arm, I can't imagine that you could reach into your shirt and down the sleeve in a hurry...

dinahlab: I carry a Ruger LCP. I am sure they make one for the XDM, but you can ask Garridan, he will be happy to help you garridan@chickholsters.com

  10. I saw these on your facebook and had to go look them up! They are sooo cute!! Ive been looking at ankle holster as another way of carry. Im a hairstylist and we have to wear black dress pants to work...Alot of mine do not have pockets, belt loops, or even a major waste band (lady's you know the kind im talking about) so therefor my Crossbreed doesn't work those days... :( Thanks for the review!!

  12. Does it have a thumb break, finger break or a pull thru snap ? I plan on adding a smith & wesson 442 to my " arsenal" soon and that ankle holster looks like a good option. I've looked at some holsters in the gun stores and they do seem to have alot of extra material on them. I think I might leave the flower on , if it's not to big , because if the holster ever showed it might distract away from the holster looking all girlie as it does :]. Hate to have a " Ah, she's got a gun !!!!!!!!!!!! " moment lol. Glad they work with bootcut, that's about all I wear.

  18. I'm looking for a thigh holster like this but since Chick Holsters went out of business, no one has filled the void. Any idea where I can get a thigh holster for my sig p238? I hate that I can't carry it when I'm wearing dresses during the spring and summer, otherwise I'm using my flashbang.

  20. Can I wear this ankle holster slightly above my ankle? Some of my dresses hit me just above my ankle.

    1. Unfortunately, they went out of business. The Remora is the best option now.
