Review - Ruger .380 LCP

I finally got to shoot the Ruger! I've read reviews, lots of reviews...all by men. These fellas all have one thing in commen that they mention. The recoil. When my sweet man picked it up to shoot it and exclaimed, "She kicks like a mule!" I figured it out.

It's too small! Guys get more kick from this little pistol because they really can't hold it well. A guy with large hands will not only have a hard time getting more than one finger in the grip, and will more than likely not enjoy the trigger either. My man's buddy got a giggle out of my little pistol. He even asked me if it came with a Barbie holster. Grrrrr, he knows girls with guns are sexy, he's just jealous!

Us ladies, on the other hand, it fits our hands great. Now, compared to the hubby's full size guns, it does kick a little, but not near as bad as I expected after reading all of those reviews. One thing you do need to pay attention to, however, is the slide. If you don't watch out, you might end up with a little booboo like me

The little firecracker is pretty accurate, hit the 9 point ring the first shot out. I am very pleased with my choice for this Ruger for a daily carry pistol. I would recommend it to anyone and am having so much fun meeting others who love this sweet little pistol.

  1. I was going back reading your old posts. I am waiting for my CWP and trying to educate myself, I am finding the blogs soooo.... helpful! Anyway I have a Ruger LCR, which I love. I have found myself wanting to get a semi auto though, I think shooting and guns are my new addiction. Anyway I had been looking at the LCP, to get when I can afford it anyway, and I think you may have sold me on it. I have been reading about it and you are right, everyone talks about the recoil. Now that you have had it and used it for a while, do you still love it? Thanks in advance!

  2. @Bullseye: I still trust my life to it every day and the more I use it, the more I love it.

I am glad you enjoy my blog and appreciate the kind words.

I think an LCR will be my next Ruger...ubless I find the Vacquero first.

  4. I purchased the Ruger LCP w/crimson laser. Fit my had very well. Only issues I had (which were enough to sell it), it is a long pull, hense the built in safety. No external Safety. My arthritis and Fibro are getting worse and I was having a hard time pulling the slide. Then I took it to the range to test shoot. I could hardly pull the trigger without my hand starting to shake. I tried several different finger positions, so if you have any hand issues, I would avoid this one. If you are strong and have to hand issues this is great.
